Fiolinisten Ricardo Odriozola, cellisten John Ehde, klaveristen Ermis Theodorakis og lydkunstneren John Hegre møtes i Ouránios nautilía – et nytt elektroakustisk verk av Erik Håkon Halvorsen.

Med stjernehimmelen som musikalsk kart beveger pianotrioen seg som et fartøy mellom stjernebildene Boötes, Ursa Major, Orion og Pleiadene. Utgangspunktet er Odyssevs’ ferd gjennom Middelhavet i Homers Odysseen, der helten navigerer etter stjernebildenes mytologiske skikkelser, med kursen staket ut av Kalypso.

Verket utforsker hvordan rom og tid kan formes til musikalsk materiale. Ulike stjernebilder trer frem som samtidige musikalske landskap, mens elektronikk og lydkunst lar musikken bevege seg ut i konsertsalen og rundt publikum.

Sentrale passasjer fra Odysseen, fremført på gammel gresk, inngår i verket og knytter den antikke fortellingen sammen med et moderne elektroakustisk lydunivers.

Ouránios nautilía er en musikalsk seilas mellom stjerner, myter og tid – mellom det nære og det fjerne, fortid og nåtid.

Arrangementet er et samarbeid mellom nyMusikk Bergen og Kulturkirken Fridalen. Konserten er støttet av Norsk Komponistforening, Bergen Kommune og Griegakademiet.

With the night sky as their musical map, the piano trio journeys like a vessel between the constellations Boötes, Ursa Major, Orion, and the Pleiades. The work takes as its point of departure Odysseus’ voyage across the Mediterranean in Homer’s Odyssey, in which the hero navigates by the constellations’ mythological figures, following the course set for him by Calypso.

The work explores how space and time can be shaped into musical material. Different constellations emerge as simultaneous musical landscapes, while electronics and sound art allow the music to extend into the concert hall and move around the audience.

Key passages from the Odyssey, performed in Ancient Greek, are woven into the work, connecting the ancient narrative with a contemporary electroacoustic sound world.

Ouránios nautilía is a musical voyage through stars, myths, and time—between the near and the distant, the past and the present.

The event is presented in collaboration between nyMusikk Bergen and Kulturkirken Fridalen. The concert is supported by the Norwegian Society of Composers, the City of Bergen, and the Grieg Academy.
